Ali Benbrik’s memoir describes his life childhood in Nazi Germany. Although it is undated, it was probably written around 1970. His German mother and her relatives died in the bombing of Dresden. At the end of WWII, the whereabouts of his Arab-African father, who had been arrested by the SS and taken to France, were unknown to him. Around 6 years old, he and his 9-year-old sister were sent to an orphanage in Germany. They were eventually relocated to France.
